Careers at Edify

Work at Edify Mental Health

Edify Mental Health is looking for clinicians passionate about integrating Catholic faith with mental health care, particularly those who want to make good Catholic and Christian counseling available to families who otherwise could not afford it.

Our client base is predominantly Catholic (50–60%) and non-denominational Christian (30–40%), and faith-integrated therapy is a core expectation. We have a long waitlist of clients and growing demand. New team members step into a steady caseload with insurance billing, scheduling, office space, and administrative support provided.

Edify offers much of the independence and feel of private practice with the benefits of a supportive group agency. We are a Washington nonprofit behavioral health agency now filing under agency license for Medicaid. Office space in Marysville is available for in-person work, with telehealth throughout Washington also covered under the agency license.

We are interested in talking with fully licensed clinicians, associate-level clinicians, and students approaching internship or graduation. The exact employment arrangement depends somewhat on licensure, location, insurance enrollment, supervision needs, and the population you hope to serve.

Existing clinicians can join us part time and keep their prior clients and work. If this doesn't work out to help you, take your clients with you. Our mission isn't to take over therapy, it's to develop therapists.

Full-time clinician salaries generally range from $90,000–$110,000 depending on client load.

Many companies prefer to hire therapists as contractors in order to protect their financial planning and liability. At Edify, clinicians are W-2 employees. As such, we pay for training, licensing, office-related expenses, equipment, and the other expenses and employment taxes associated with the work. We also provide corporate liability insurance and reimburse clinicians for their individual professional liability insurance.

We provide billing and scheduling, though you will do the coding and notes, of course! Clients can call our billing/scheduling local human (Caroline) all day and get our 100% human 24/7 answering service when she's away.

Vacation time includes holy days of obligation and four weeks of flexible PTO.

We provide a retirement plan with 3% matching through our SIMPLE IRA to full-time and part-time employees.

We provide full-family dental and vision benefits through Delta Dental to both full-time and part-time employees.

We also provide various other tax-free benefits, such as education expenses, student debt assistance, and vehicle or meal benefits depending upon the needs of the position.

Clinicians become members of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association, with membership and conference expenses covered as part of their employment. Continuing education support is also provided.

At this time there is no ethically available option to us for providing health care coverage. We encourage employees to join health share plans, and we have adjusted our salary schedule upward to help ensure these are affordable. There are pending laws that might enable this to become an employer-paid expense in the future, and if that occurs Edify will make that change.

A salary intended to support family life

A commitment of our nonprofit is to provide an income suitable to family life. As such, our Board of Directors reviews salaries annually with a goal of paying full-time employees the median family income of their county.

We rely on a mixture of donations, insurance reimbursement, and cash pay to make this work. A mental health ambassador is employed specifically to work on fundraising and sponsorships. Depending upon your position, you may also become involved in some fundraising activities.

We also believe in the principles of solidarity in Catholic social teaching in how we build a company. For this reason, we are a nonprofit. There isn't an owner, manager, or director somewhere profiting off your work. Among clinicians, we all have the same income structure. Your supervisor will have fewer client hours because part of his or her work is overseeing and helping you.

If the company has extra money, it is always directed by the Board toward growth of the company, improvement of employee benefits, or reduction of rates to expand access to care during its annual review.

The result is a somewhat unusual mental health practice: our goal is not to maximize the amount collected from each clinician. Our goal is to build a sustainable organization in which clinicians can support their families while providing excellent care to Catholics and Christians across the income spectrum, including Medicaid and other lower-income clients.

Where could you fit?

We are interested in clinicians at several stages of training and licensure. Open the section that best describes where you are now.

Fully licensed clinicians

Full or part time, with substantial clinical independence and agency support.

+

Fully licensed clinicians can work full or part time. Edify provides billing, scheduling, office and administrative support while clinicians retain substantial independence in their clinical work.

Because Edify participates with insurance as an agency and group practice, the particular insurance panels available to a clinician will depend upon the clinician's license, location, and the contracts available at the time of employment. We will work through those details with you during hiring rather than expecting you to arrive with your own insurance contracts.

Associate-level clinicians

Joint supervision, agency support, and a caseload that grows as payer enrollment develops.

+

Associate-level clinicians can also work at Edify under a joint supervision agreement.

The position is substantially the same as the fully licensed clinician position, with some caveats. Insurance enrollment and billing rules vary by payer, and an associate may not immediately be eligible to see every type of insured client that a fully licensed clinician can see. We will work with you to identify the clients and insurance plans available under your license and Edify's agency contracts.

Because of this, associate clinicians will generally begin part time while their caseload develops. How quickly that happens depends upon insurance enrollment, your location, and the clients available locally. Part-time employees at Edify qualify for the same benefits described above except for the full-time vacation schedule.

You do not need to wait until you are independently licensed to contact us. You may apply while completing graduate school or while waiting for your associate license to be conferred. Clinical employment begins once you hold the credential required for the work you will be doing.

Our intent is that the associate years should be a real clinical job rather than simply a waiting period before private practice. Supervision, training, insurance participation, and the administrative structure of the agency are intended to give newer clinicians an opportunity to develop while serving clients who often have difficulty finding faith-integrated care.

Graduate internships

Developing placements for counseling students interested in Catholic-integrated clinical work.

+

Edify is developing a graduate internship program for counseling students.

Internship opportunities will depend upon university requirements, available supervisors, location, and the services permitted under Edify's agency license and payer contracts. Internship agreements have already been established with St. Mary’s University, and we are currently in discussion with Divine Mercy University. We are also willing to establish new internship agreements with other universities. As a state-approved behavioral health agency, Edify can provide the clinical setting and supervision necessary to meet the educational requirements of mental health counseling programs, including CACREP-accredited programs.

Internships will be paid, because the worker deserves their wage, although the structure and terms of compensation may vary depending upon university policies and the requirements of the individual internship agreement. Students interested in Catholic-integrated clinical work are encouraged to contact us before their internship year so that we have time to work with their university and establish an appropriate placement and supervision arrangement.

An internship may also provide a pathway into an associate-level position with Edify following graduation and Washington licensure.

Catholic identity

Edify Mental Health is a division of Zeteo Ministries, a Catholic 501(c)(3) religious nonprofit incorporated in the State of Washington.

In alignment with its religious mission, Zeteo Ministries has designated the above positions as ministerial roles essential to the Catholic identity and spiritual mission of the organization. As such, applications are being accepted only from individuals who are practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church, including those from all rites in communion with Rome.

In all other respects, Zeteo Ministries is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be subject to interviews, background checks, and reference evaluations.
